PS, the Saturn version is better than 360 just because it’s easier to make progress in the game. However if you are a big shoot’em up fan, then it is worth the asking price, as long as you go into it with fresh eyes. And thanks to Saturn being able to easily play copies now, there’s no reason to not sink your teeth in. ![]() Anyways, yes I think it deserves all the praise and reverence it gets. Nothing similar between the two games, had a completely different play style, and much harder. And yes, I bought Ikaruga when it launched for Dreamcast, and unfortunately despite being a spiritual sequel, IMO it was a letdown. The final boss against God (as I nicknamed him) is just all-around epic and a fantastic ending to the game. And not to mention it’s one great looking game on the Saturn too. I’d boot my Saturn just to watch the cartoon intro, wondering what the actual story was, but still understanding the feeling conveyed. They will never get the hundreds of hours of love and soul I put into playing RS. I guess that comes from their arcade roots (yes RS was in the arcade, but it was really a home-made shooter). Games like Gradiua, Darius, and Raiden I’ve always loved for their visual style, but the difficulty, gameplay style, and power up mechanics always frustrated me. Had to do it a second time because I lost my save data the first time due to my system battery. It was a beautiful design that kept me playing that game for over a year straight. You keep playing, learning the enemy patterns in and out, while the small gradual increasing firepower gets you through easier, allowing you to get farther, until you get to new sections and start dying, running out of continues, etc. I think the gradual build of power and continues gives AWESOME replayability. Recognized it was one of those “vertical shooter games” like Strikers 1945 at my pizza parlor, I’m SO glad I bought it. Homing - Fires double energy blasts that home in on enemies. The player is given a wide arsenal of weapons from the start of the game with three primary weapons Vulcan - Fires a rapid-fire stream of bullets forward from the front end of the ship. ![]() Unknowing kid I was, picked it out of a small lineup of import Japanese Saturn games in Electronics Boutique back in 1999 purely by the cover art. Gameplay Radiant Silvergun is a vertically-scrolling shoot-'em-up game. Radiant Silvergun was my very first shump ever owned.
